If you light a Core2Duo you will need. Also, try to get at least 3 GB of RAM (plus and the team has not even acknowledged).
Personally, I would suggest getting a Dell with a 9-cell battery, because it seems that the battery life is important to you. I agree with the poster about Macs. Yes think about Macs. In fact, I am now. No complaints here. However, they are so so expensive. Mine was $ 1,400. Well worth it, but not much when you are on a budget. Dells are bad teams in many ways. My friend has, and it is terrible. I would say if you really want one of them decide to leave the bridge. Otherwise, the search starts HPS or if you feel ambitious, Macs. : D
